not recommended to use an oil weight that has a great spread in the numbers loke 5w 30, 20W 50, etc. That is because the wider the spread the more viscosity improvers (VI) are needed as an additive to have the oil perform to meet specs at the weight extremes. Thus less oil in the can the wider the weight spread. If a greater difference in the weight numbers is desired like 0w 30, 5w 30, 15w 50, etc you can use these if needed for various temp conditions but you have to use a full synthetic because only these oils that can be taylored to achieve the desired performance specs with minimal to no VI additives thus more oil in the can.
